Bill Morneau, Canada’s finance minister, stopped by our studio yesterday (July 4).
He was in Northumberland visiting businesses in Cobourg and Port Hope with our member of parliament, Kim Rudd.
His stops included Venture13 and meeting with residents at The Social in Port Hope.
He tells us what inspired this tour.
He says Rudd mapped out where to stop in Northumberland.
Morneau says he received some interesting feedback from local businesses.
He adds that this feedback will help the government decide what to focus on heading into the election this fall.
He says there are some things that set our community apart from others he’s visited.
Looking at the bigger picture, Morneau tells us what aspect of the Canadian economy he will be focusing on for the upcoming election.
Morneau wrapped upĀ by saying he was thankful to see what was going on in our area on such a beatiful day.
