Step up for Mental Health.
It’s about making a difference for a cause that touches us all.
Did you know that 49% of Canadians feel they’ve suffered from anxiety or depression but have never sought help?
And Cameco offered the free “Step Up For Mental Health” event tonight (Sept 25) at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope.
The talk about mental health was with one of Canada’s most recognized Sports TSN Broadcasters and mental health advocates – Michael Landsberg.
As a depression sufferer, Landsberg understands how important it is to talk about mental health and helps people understand that mental illness isn’t a weakness.
He tells us more about his Charity “Sick Not Weak”.
Michael shared his mental health story, how to seek help and how, together, we can remove the stigma and build supportive communities for people with mental illness. He tells us why he shares his story.
If he could sum up his talk, he explains it in two words: weakness to hope.
Landsburg also held a discussion with students at Cobourg’s High School, CCI, earlier in the day.
Coming up, the inaugural Cameco Step Up for Mental Health 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place this Saturday (Sept 28) in Port Hope.
You can sign up at www.stepupontario.ca. Entry fee will be $35 per person ($30 for students, kids 7 & under free). Space is limited.
