Vintage Ice Oval Snowmobile Racing will take place this weekend (Jan 25-26) in the Kawartha’s at Viamede Resort.
Ontario Snowmobile Oval Racers presents the racing, and Carl Blight is president of the club, and he tells us more about what you can expect if you’ve never been to an event like this.
He says it was really popular in the 1970s and 80s.
The Stoney Lake Cup Championships of Vintage Ice Oval Racing will take place this Saturday and Sunday on a 3/8 of a mile track.
The ages of racers is quite broad – from age 4 all the way up to 64, with 37 race-classes available.
Race days bring people’s memories of the past to the surface and Blight says they loves hearing all the stories.
Gates will open at 7:30 am, with 8:30 Hot Laps, and racing starting at 10 a.m., and will likely run until approximately 5 p.m..
Admission is $10, with children 6 and under getting in for free.
