To improve access to mental health support services during COVID-19 – the Ontario government is providing emergency funding of almost $15 million dollars.
The money will pay for the expansion of online and virtual mental health supports and the hiring of new psychologists and other mental health workers to support police personnel.
The province says dealing with the viral outbreak is taxing for everyone. Those in self-isolation, families and children at home because there’s no work or school to go to and first responders and front-line healthcare workers.
The province says the services are available to anyone experiencing anxiety, stress and other mental health challenges, including people who are unable to access their regular in-person counselling supports.
