Next week will bring a big change to Cobourg residents.
Starting Monday (July 13) it’ll be mandatory to wear a non-medical mask or face covering inside local building.
In My Broadcasting Corporation’s weekly check in with mayor John Henderson, he says while some education and enforcement will be required, it shouldn’t be too big of a learning curve.
The mayor adds that it’s important for residents to be as compliant with each business’ policy since store owners are just doing what’s required of them.
Henderson says he does know that not everyone is able to wear a mask or face covering.
And another big topic during this week’s conversation with the mayor was this heat wave.
He says he knows many residents are visiting other areas of the county to cool off in the water, but he says issues of safety can arise at unsupervised areas as there are no lifeguards, no health unit water quality testing and there’s a danger of undercurrents.
Mayor Henderson also reminds residents that there is also a cooling centre operating out of the Market Building on Second Street if people in town need to get out of the hot, humid weather.
