In less than two weeks, the Capitol Theatre is celebrating its 90th anniversary.
Erin Peirce, managing director at Port Hope’s local theatre, says in the lead-up to August 15, local businesses are offering specialty items, and there are some prize packs up for grabs.
Peirce says a community building art installation is also being created, in collaboration with local artist Lee Higginson, which will be displayed in the Capitol Theatre box office.
The managing director says there are special festivities planned for the 90th anniversary next Saturday (Aug 15) as well.
She says the day will start with a police escorted parade, featuring nine antique cars, representing the nine decades the theatre has been open.
