Member of Provincial Parliament David Piccini raised $4,000 and gathered many truck loads of food during his Fall Food Drives.
On Friday (Oct 23) he presented the food raised to help re-stock the shelves of Food 4 All Northumberland, Clarington East Food Bank and Asphodel-Norwood Ministerial Food Bank.
With every donation to our local food banks, residents received a free pumpkin courtesy of farmers in our riding.
The Fall Food Drives were held starting Thanksgiving Weekend, where Piccini partnered with local farms and grocery stores throughout the riding to help re-stock the shelves of local food banks.
Our MPP tells us about the why.
Over 250 pumpkins for the Fall Food Drives were donated by Burnham Family Farm Market, Garden Hill Farmers Market, Cricklewood Farm, Kent Farms, Gord and Sherry Robinson, Cheer Farms and Vanderview Farms.
Local grocery stores supported the Fall Food Drives by hosting Piccini’s events and encouraging customers to purchase extra food to donate, including John Foley of Cobourg Foodland, Brighton No Frills, and Chad Jolicoeur of Norwood Foodland.
The food and monetary donations will help our food banks continue to deliver their critical services, respond to local needs and support our vulnerable populations during these trying times.
