***PLEASE NOTE CORRECTION: After airing our story on Christmas Magic, the Town of Cobourg says that they are ‘testing’ the lights on Friday (Nov 27) and the lights will be announced next week.
—
Original story:
The tradition of Christmas Magic will continue in Victoria Park and Rotary Harbourfront Park in Cobourg, although a little different this year, but everyone is wondering when!
You may have noticed town workers busy stringing lights and so we had ask Emily Chorley, Councillor and Coordinator of Parks & Recreation for the Town of Cobourg what is going on…
Chorley adds that they aren’t able to host the typical ‘Lighting Up Ceremony’ due to restrictions on group gatherings in light of COVID-19 and adds when we might expect to see the lights turned on.
The Town of Cobourg partners annually with the Fare Share Food Bank for this event as it is a large food drive opportunity. So in lieu, if you’d like to make a donation, check out the link on the Fare Share Food Bank website to make a traditional donation of your choosing at http://www.fareshare.ca/get-involved/donate/.
In addition to downtown decorative lights, Victoria Hall will also be decorated with a holiday village display.
And the 65th Cobourg Santa Claus Parade will be with Static Floats – no date has been released for the parade as of yet.
And there’s a Cobourg Home Decorating Challenge: submit images of your home by December 11th to be entered into a draw to win a gift card to a local business of choosing. Submissions can be emailed to Jackie Chapman Davis at jchapmandavis@cobourg.ca
