The Big Dog House is a non-profit dog rescue located in the Municipality of Port Hope.
Founder and Owner/Operator Melissa Grover tells us that they help abandoned dogs find their new home.
Due to COVID-19, they are not currently allowing walk-ins or visits and they are not operating the daycare or boarding.
They do have a no contact donation drop off box available at the beginning of the property at 4571 County Road 2.
She gives us an example of a successful re-homing.
Grover tells us you can view their adoption page for current dogs available.
If you’re interested in volunteering, you must be over the ages of 18-years-old.
You can also join their foster program by filling out a foster form on their volunteer page at https://thebigdoghouseontario.com/ or by emailing thebigdoghouseontario@gmail.com.
Grover tells us many approvals have to made before a dog can be re-homed as they want to make sure that it works out.
You can help out by dropping by the Port Hope Pet Value, buy things for the rescue and the pet store will will let the rescue know.
