Yesterday (Nov 26) was the grand opening of Baxter’s Bakery.
They have set up shop in the former Weston Foods facility in the Northam Industrial Park.
Family owned and truly Canadian company, Baxter’s Bakery has locations in Markham and Toronto, and David Baxter, president of Baxter’s Bakery (Cobourg) Inc. tells us they took over about six weeks ago, utilizing not only the baking equipment, but previous Weston staff.
Baxter says it’s great to be able to open the bakery back up.
Northumberland – Peterborough South member of provincial parliament, David Piccini, agrees it’s great news for our community.
Plans are in place to hire up to 150 staff.
He says you can apply by sending your resume to info@baxtersbakery.com.
MPP Piccini says although we’ve been hit hard, business is proceeding in Northumberland.
Baxter tells us what baked goods they provide – all ‘made by hand’ products.
You’re not alone if you were hoping a store might open at their location in Cobourg but Baxter says as of right now, they will continue to provide their products to the following locations locally: at Foodland, Sobeys and Independent.
Piccini ends by saying he is happy to the growth of business and the supply chain in Northumberland and all the positive ripple effects for our community..
