The Municipality of Port Hope continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and staff meet regularly to assess operations, provide updates on COVID-19 impacts, and discuss ongoing planning and response measures.
Port Hope Mayor Bob Sanderson says the vaccine rollout in Canada is a bit of disaster.
Mayor Sanderson is happy to report that the outbreak at Hope Street Terrace is officially over and all vaccines there have been administered.
Ontario is gearing up to reopen parts of its economy today (Feb 16) following the stay-at-home order that was implemented in January.
Twenty-seven public health units will re-enter the colour-coded system of restrictions on Tuesday, with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (HKPR) District Health Unit region, moving into the Orange COVID-19 colour category.
In response to requests from residents, a modified recreation program schedule will be available for select programming, including lane swims, skating, the youth centre, and gymnasium programs at the Jack Burger Sports Complex and Town Park Recreation Centre.
The schedule will begin February 17th until the 20th and reservations are required.
On Thursday, February 18th, reservations will open for activities available during the week of February 21st. The regular weekly reservation process, with reservations opening on Thursdays for activities taking place the following week, will continue from this date.
Registration for aquatics programs will re-open (pending space availability) on Thursday, February 18th until Wednesday, February 24th for a six-week session running from the week of March 1st to April 11th. Aqua fitness programs will run from February 22nd until April 11th, with registration required to participate.
As things start to reopen, Mayor Sanderson says all COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.
