Development in Northumberland County increased in 2020 compared to 2019.
A recent (Mar 17) report to Northumberland County council, shows an increase of roughly $832,000 in construction value from 2019.
The total for last year was $222.7 million.
The county’s seven member municipalities issued over 500 residential unit permits and 123 non-residential units for sectors including agricultural, commercial, government, industrial and institutional.
Residential permits more than doubled in Alnwick-Haldimand township in 2020, while large increases were also seen in Port Hope, Cobourg and Hamilton Township.
County warden, Bob Crate, says the date in the report is consistent with the province’s forecasted growth for Northumberland.
