St. Mary’s Secondary School in Cobourg will be closed to in-person learning until further notice.
This comes after a COVID-19 outbreak was declared on Saturday, April 3rd, after 10 confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported for the school (https://www.pvnccdsb.on.ca/covid-19-advisory-page/).
The HKPR District Health unit, school and PVNCCD School Board made the decision to stay closed after the Easter break, until at least the Spring Break (Apr 12-16).
All students will transition to virtual learning and students will be contacted by their teachers tomorrow (Apr 6) with further instructions.
Those identified as close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate for 14 days by public health.
There were 27 news cases of the virus reported in the HKPR District Health Unit area as of Saturday (Apr 3): 14 in Northumberland, 6 in Kawartha Lakes and 7 in the Haliburton Region.
And Golden Plough Lodge is in COVID-19 outbreak, after an employee recently tested positive – The County confirmed in a media release late last (Wednesday) night. That employee is now at home self-isolating and all staff will be tested twice-weekly, using the diagnostic PCR nasal swab test. Administrator Bill Detlor says that more than 95 per cent of the facility’s resident are fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, adding that all staff that wanted a vaccine, have received their first dose.
