Alison Lester has been acclaimed as the Liberal Candidate for Northumberland—Peterborough South in the next federal election, bringing a passion and commitment to her community through public service.
Lester operates a general legal practice in Cobourg with the Northumberland law firm of Irvine, Lester & Low.
She has represented clients before the Federal Court of Canada, and the Ontario Superior Court. Alison has also advocated on behalf of clients at the Ontario Municipal Board and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.
Lester graduated in 2005 from McGill University law school with an LL.B and a Bachelor of Civil Law. Prior to attending law school she earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English literature from the University of Toronto. Alison was called to the Ontario Bar in 2006.
Born and raised in Cobourg, she chose to return here because she believes that Northumberland-Peterborough South is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
She is a mother, a wife, a volunteer, a lawyer, and a small business owner and says she is committed to being a champion for each and every member of this community.
Lester is a past chair of Westben Festival Arts Theatre located in the Municipality of Trent Hills and has been involved with the Northumberland Help and Legal Centre and PARN (Peterborough AIDS Resource Network).
She currently sits on the Northumberland Hospital Foundation’s Planned Giving Committee and sings in Safe Harbour, a community chamber choir.
