A special council meeting was held in Cobourg on Wednesday night to decide the status of Victoria beach for this summer. And while area residents opinions vary, the beach will open with some parameters set in place. Cobourg’s city Councilor Nicole Beatty supported the provinces stand and voiced her concerns during the meeting.
The fences will stay up at Cobourg’s Victoria beach and it will stay closed on weekends and holidays, but come May 31st the beach will open Monday through Friday, with a maximum of 1200 people at one time. After that number is reached, Cobourg Police and local Bylaw officers have the right to close the beach.
