Three bridges in the Trenton area have been dedicated to the memory of three police officers. In 1931, 29 year old Constable Blair Brown died in a road wreck while transporting a prisoner to Trenton from Peterborough.
In 1970, Constable Mark Houlden collapsed and died while protecting others during the investigation of a domestic violence incident. In 1978 Constable James Begbie was returning from firearms training when his motorcycle crashed. He died later from his injuries.
Signs with each officer’s name and police service crest are posted on the bridge that honours them. In almost two decades more than 70 provincial highway structures have been dedicated to fallen police officers.
