A passionate plea from a local cab company owner convinced Cobourg Council to change up the fare structure for cabs in town.
According to Cobourg News Blog, Kelly Paton, owner of Cobourg Cabs, said she has been struggling to make ends meet under the current fare structure.
In a presentation to council, she provided a set of numbers that she believed would be much more accommodating to area cab drivers.
After some debate, council voted to implement Paton’s new structure.
Here are the new rates:
Base pick-up charge will be $4.25 down from, $4.75, the standard meter charge is now $2.25 per km up from was $1.75, and waiting/running time while under engagement is $0.75 per minute. This meter is activated only when vehicle is travelling below 26km per hour or stopped.
