Kids and their families can become super sleuths to find Easter egg photos in store windows throughout Brighton during the inaugural Easter Egg Hunt that got underway last week.
Sponsored by Brighton’s own Christine & Diana Real Estate Team from Royal LePage ProAlliance, the scavenger hunt got underway on April 1st and will continue until April 24th, with a draw for an Easter basket of goodies on April 25th.
It’s simple to enter: just find at least 20 of the eggs in various store windows around town and compile a list of where you found them. Then send your list to the Christine and Diana Team Facebook page or email them at tcampbell@royallepage.ca. For bonus entries, take a photo of you and your crew and tag the Christine and Diana Team and the local business on Facebook.
Christine Rogers of the Christine and Diana Real Estate Team said the Easter Egg Hunt is all about getting kids and families outdoors and having some fun, while putting their scavenger hunting skills to good use for a prize basket with a value of around $200 that features a number of local goodies.
“We really want families to get out and enjoy the local community and have fun together and support local businesses,” said Rogers.
Rogers said the participation from local businesses has been good, with around 22 taking part, as well as the schools, the library and the fire department all agreeing to put the Easter egg photos in the windows.
She noted the idea for an Easter Egg Hunt has been percolating for the past two years, but due to COVID-19 protocols, the realtors decided to hold off. This year, however, the timing was right to do a hybrid community scavenger hunt with an Easter theme, while helping local businesses, too.
“Hiding real (Easter) eggs around the community isn’t quite feasible, you know, because of dogs, animals would find them, and nobody really wants to touch something that someone else has touched right now. It was really to combine the idea of an Easter egg hunt with something that actually worked,” said Rogers.
“What we did was put up Easter egg pictures in local businesses windows and the idea is to get kids and families out searching for them, taking pictures of them, taking pictures of themselves with them, just to enter a contest to win a basket. It’s just to get the community out and around and involve local businesses.”
Entry deadline is 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 14th.
