The Ontario Dental Association is looking for a place at the table when the province decides how they’ll allocate the 5.3 billion dollar federal dental care investment.
Given that they represent over 10,000 dentists, it seems like a no-brainer, but to date they’ve yet to be invited.
ODA President Doctor Lisa Bentley is concerned that the ODA has yet to be consulted on how best to spend that money.
Bentley told us the senior dental program is an example of a program that really falls short.
Bentley is concerned that the money will fund programs that don’t address the needs of patients.
She said patients deserve the choice of dealing with someone their comfortable with and under the current system, this just can’t happen.
The ODA is looking for an immediate commitment to children from low-income families, to adults and seniors on low incomes, to people with disabilities, and to those with complex medical conditions.
