A very disturbing online video has led to charges for a 23-year-old horse trainer from the Bailieboro-area.
The Peterborough This Week reports Ministry of the Solicitor General spokesperson Brent Ross confirmed Solstice Pecile of Cavan-Monaghan Township has been charged with causing distress to an animal, under the Animal Welfare Services Act.
In the video posted, the horse is tied to the back of a vehicle with rope. The animal had been staying at Wishing Stone Farm located near Bailieboro.
On Friday, Northumberland OPP sent out a release saying they were investigating a possible cruelty to animal incident although at this point, no criminal charges have been laid.
The horse’s owner Emily Reardon has started a GoFundMe page, hoping to raise $6,000, to cover the cost of buying her back, trailering (14 hour round trip to pick her up), veterinary checks and attention , special farrier work, and anything else she may need to get her back to a good place.
Reardon also says any funds in excess of what her care requires will be donated toward helping any other animals coming out of a situation like this.
