It’s Kubota’s Woman Farmer of the Year day on 93.3 myFM and Classic Rock 107.9.
Lenni Workman owns and operates Art Farm Produce outside of Warkworth.
Workman and her husband Brad Francis bought the farm in 1994 and have been doing small scale produce ever since.
Workman said she grew up farming, so it was inevitable that she would one day come back to it after spending time in the city.
She said she is very grateful to even be nominated for the award.
Workman said they focus on using organic processes and have had sustainability in mind since the start. But it’s knowing that they and everyone who eats their produce is getting a healthy meal is the real reward.
When it comes to women working on a farm, she said there are a few traits to have that make things easier.
When they’re between seasons, she said her and her husband turn to their more artistic endeavors like filmmaking and art – hence the name of the farm.
As a local fixture in the farmers market circuit in Northumberland, Lenni Workman is our Kubota’s Woman Farmer of the Year.
