Fed up with the long distance he had to drive to get his daughter’s skates sharpened, Kevin Benard decided to just do it himself.
He picked up an old skate sharpener off of Facebook Marketplace and learned how to sharpen skates.
After moving from Port Hope to Cramahe, he said it became a much more cumbersome experience to get skates sharpened. He soon found out he wasn’t the only one thinking that.
That’s how Flying V Mobile Skate Sharpening was born.
Benard travels around sharpening skates and equipment for anyone in Northumberland.
He told us how the business got started.
As for why it’s a mobile business, he explained that as well.
After a while of sharpening skates for his two daughters, he soon found that there were more people around him that also wanted the service.
While he currently is focused on sharpening skates, Benard said he hopes that if things go well he can expand the types of services he offers on the go.
