Some local politicians took the bus to Northumberland County Council on February 15.
Warden Mandy Martin and Deputy Warden Brian Ostrander jumped on the Commuter Connect shuttle from Colborne to the mall in Cobourg to provide an update on ridership.
The pair were there to update the public on how the Commuter Connect trial program was fairing so far as it crosses the six month mark.
Martin said there were 89 inter-county trips taken, a 59% increase since January 1, and 853 Oshawa trips taken, 34% increase since January 1.
She added rider feedback is important to keep the project going.
Martin and Ostrander were met by MPP David Piccini at their stop, who said the service will help out many residents in the area.
Piccini added connecting residents to the GO network is important.
All three politicians said they want to boost awareness of the program as much as possible, and that it’s vital for riders to voice their thoughts on the transit system in order to course correct before the full launch.
