Sounds of the Next Generation is a children’s charity in Northumberland that provides choral, string and tech programs for kids.
SONG Executive Director Miles Bowman told us they have news that’s brought a smile to their faces.
Be sure to drop by Tim Hortons from May 1st to the 7th and pick up some cookies to help support SONG’s work.
Miles told us that you can see your donations go even further during Smile Cookie week and as their spring fundraising campaign comes to it’s conclusion.
Bowman believes in the power of music to help kids feel good. It’s at the heart of the volunteers at SONG who give there time to help kids explore music in all its facets.
Miles told us they provide choral or choir instruction for kids 6 and older that is audition-free with a focus on social development through the pursuit of musical excellence.
They also have a string program featuring violin, viola, and cello instruction and a SONGtech program for grade 7 and 8 students to use new technology to enjoy and create music.
New to SONG is a youth “open-mic” program.
Can singing or playing music really improve a child’s resilience, teamwork, problem-solving and coping skills?
According to Miles, that’s exactly what they’ve been doing for nearly a decade.
Whether your child is interested in singing, learning an instrument or creating the next pop hit, SONG has something for them.
