Applefest kicks off Friday night with the Brighton Legion’s Applefest Dinner and Dance with The Offbeats providing live entertainment. Also this evening, you can head over to the Lions Bingo at the Owen Gibb Community Hall on Elizabeth Street beginning at 5 pm.
Also on Friday, the Brighton Speedway will be hosting an Apples Eve race night at the Speedway with the DirtCar Sportsman Series Race, CM/UMP Heats, NLMA LM Heats and Dash Heat, Thunder Stock, Mini Stock Duel in the Dirt Combined Race and 358 Hot Laps and Dash for Cash.
Manager of Economic Development and Communications Ben Hagerman told us everyone lends a hand for Applefest.
Ben told us that they’re looking forward to another great event this year.
While the official start of Applefest is not until 11 am on Saturday morning with the Opening Ceremonies in Memorial Park, which will feature the presentation of the Citizen of the Year award and a flypast by members of CFB Trenton, the Brighton Kinsmen will be up early for their Pancake Breakfast that starts at 8 am on Veterans Way.
Hagerman told us what to expect for the balance of Saturday.
We asked Ben how significant is the economic impact of Applefest.
The Applefest Street Fair will be sure to draw a lot of visitors to Main Street with over 150 local vendors showcasing original art, clothing, jewelry, artisanal products, pet accessories, wellness products and much more. There will also be food vendors sprinkled along the way so no one has a chance to go hungry.
Ben told us that along with the Vintage Car, Tractor and Motorcycle Show there will be a chance to get up close to some heavy equipment at King Edward Park at the Meet the Machine display featuring a boom truck, bulldozer and more.
Throughout the day, Music in the Park will provide a backdrop that will keep your feet tapping.
Hagerman told us that a shuttle service will be running throughout the weekend to help you move between events easily, like the Snowmobile Show which is new to Applefest this year.
With so much to do Ben recommends that you arrive early.
