Northumberland OPP laid additional charges related to child pornography following the disclosure of another victim.
On Aug. 14, 2023, OPP responded to a report of non-consensual distribution of an intimate recording at a property in the Municipality of Brighton. This incident prompted a four-month-long investigation.
Subsequently, on Dec. 20, 2023, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested a 17-year-old from Brighton in connection with the ongoing investigation. On Dec. 22, 2023, another victim reported non-consensual distribution of an intimate recording to the OPP. Following a supplementary investigation, on Jan. 3, 2024, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged the same individual with four additional charges.
Amongst these charges, the Brighton youth was charged for making, printing, publishing or posessing child pornography. The youth cannont be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The individual was held on bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
