Port Hope Council meetings have a new schedule and structure.
the new Procedural By-law brings about changes to the Council and Committee of the Whole (COW) meeting schedule and structure.
Council and Committee of the Whole Meetings will now take place on separate evenings. Both will continue to take place on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Meetings will now follow a revolving three-week cycle, starting with a meeting, a break, and another meeting the following week.
The Committee of the Whole sessions will primarily focus on the discussion and deliberation of staff reports. Question period will also take place at COW meetings, for members of the Media and community to pose and seek information from Members of Council.
Presentations and deputations will occur during Council meetings. Question period will no longer be available during Council meetings. Council meetings is where final decisions or approvals take place.
