United Way Northumberland could use your help. They are short only ten per cent of 2023’s $910,000 fundraising goal and the deadline is approaching fast. Executive Director, Alicia Vandine, gave GoNorthumberland a dollar estimate as to how much they need to hit the mark.
The annual fundraising goal, set last September, is determined based on the anticipated needs in the community and enables United Way’s impact through community partner funding, in-house programs, and its advocacy work. Vandine explains.
Some of the nine community partners United Way connects with are Salvation Army, Community Care Northumberland and Help Centre.
Also announced in September, was United Way’s $50,000 matching gift opportunity generously donated by a community member to encourage new and increased donations to the 2023 campaign. Vandine says this was a big help as the campaign launched.
There are a couple of ways to support the 2024 United Way Campaign. Residents are encouraged to donate in-person, by mail or online at mynuw.org, make a new or increased donation to have your gift matched, support a United Way program or purchase a pair of Local Love socks for $20. Vandine says more.
