Cameco, one of Northumberland’s largest industrial employers, is helping out Northumberland Food for Thought (NFFT) with a $4,500 donation.
“A full stomach means that students can focus on their learning, instead of their hunger,” said Dale Clark, vice-president of Cameco’s Fuel Services Division. “The great work of Northumberland Food for Thought helps to make a positive difference to students and we are proud to support this important work.”
Cameco’s contribution, part of their community sponsorship program, targets youth, education, health, and community development initiatives.
The funds will bolster local schools’ efforts to provide healthy foods for their programs.
“We are truly grateful to have the ongoing support of corporations like Cameco that so generously give back to their community. Their support helps to ensure students are well-nourished and have the food they need to learn and succeed in school,” said Beth Kolisnyk, the community development co-ordinator with Northumberland Food for Thought.
NFFT, a non-profit organization, oversees student nutrition programs across the region, ensuring students have access to nutritious meals daily.
With ongoing support from companies like Cameco, these programs play a vital role in supporting student academic success by addressing hunger as a barrier to learning.
