An investigation is continuing after a vehicle was pulled out of the Trent River in Campbellford over the weekend.
Police said on Sunday, March 24, at about 1:36 p.m., Northumberland OPP received a report of a submerged vehicle in the Trent River in Campbellford.
“The caller was a witness who noticed the submerged vehicle while on a walk,” said Brooklyn Harker, a civilian member and media and communications co-ordinator with Central Region OPP, in an update on Tuesday, March 26. “The vehicle was approximately 20 feet from the shore and appeared to be about 10 to 15 feet deep.”
According to OPP, by about 2:35 p.m. Sunday, the vehicle was towed out of the water with help from the fire department.
“There was no one in the vehicle,” added Harker. “And there (were) also no witnesses that had observed the vehicle go into the river, so at this time, it’s still under investigation.”
According to OPP, this was all the information that could be released as of Tuesday.
