Cobourg police say a 59-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after a theft investigation.
On Friday, April 26, 2024, the Cobourg Police Service issued a release about their investigation, which police said started back on April 13, 2024, after police received a report of a theft around 1 p.m. from a business on Elgin Street West.
Staff allegedly observed a man concealing merchandise in his jacket and exiting the store without attempting to pay, said police.
As a result of the investigation, police said they identified a suspect, and on Thursday, April 25, a 59-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date, said police.
