Government Services and Stores:
On Canada Day, all government offices and services will be closed, and most liquor stores will not be operating. However, some beer stores in select locations will be open.
Beer Store in Cobourg: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Metro: Open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Walmart: Regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Shoppers Drug Mart: Both Cobourg and Port Hope locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Transit Services
Port Hope Transit:
Transit Routes A and B will be running on Monday, July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to support the activities happening downtown. As a reminder, these routes are also free during the Walton Street Reconstruction. Consider taking public transit when planning your trip downtown.
Cobourg Transit:
Operating on a regular schedule.
Garbage Collection:
Garbage pickup scheduled for Monday will be moved to Tuesday and so on through the week.
Waste transfer stations will be closed for the holiday.
Holiday Advice:
To avoid any inconvenience, it’s wise to call ahead and confirm if specific locations are open.
Canada Day Festivities
Cobourg:
Celebrate Canada Day at the Cobourg Waterfront Festival!
Opening ceremonies begin at noon at the Victoria Park Bandshell.
The day will end spectacularly with fireworks over the Harbour at 10 p.m.
Port Hope:
Port Hope offers a day filled with traditional Canada Day celebrations:
The Canada Day Parade will follow a modfied route, starting at 11:00 a.m.
Throughout the day, enjoy activities in Memorial Park, including a car show, yoga, and live entertainment. The day will conclude with fireworks scheduled for 10:15 p.m. at East Beach.
