The Northumberland Hispanic Cultural Club, in collaboration with Northumberland County, has announced the return of the annual Northumberland Diversity Festival on Saturday, July 20th at Memorial Park in Port Hope.
This year’s festival promises a rich celebration of diversity, equality, and inclusivity, reflecting the vibrant tapestry of cultures that make Northumberland unique. The festivities will commence at 12 p.m. with a special Citizenship Ceremony, where over 100 individuals will take their Oath of Citizenship, marking their final step to becoming Canadian citizens.
From noon until 9 p.m., attendees can immerse themselves in a day filled with international music, dance performances, and engaging activities for children. Highlights include performances by Jonah McLean and The Gimmicks, and the renowned Sultans of String. Kids will enjoy entertainment like stilt performers and storytelling sessions, provided by EarlyON Northumberland.
Local vendors will offer a variety of goods for purchase from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., adding to the festive atmosphere. Additionally, Northumberland 89.7 will host an all-day radiothon to raise funds for YMCA Northumberland and the Northumberland Food 4 All warehouse. Non-perishable food donations will also be collected to support local food banks.
Sponsored by Cameco, the Northumberland Diversity Festival is a free, family-friendly event that invites everyone to celebrate the cultural heritage and community spirit of Northumberland. For more details and the complete schedule, visit Northumberland Diversity Festival.
