A 32-year-old woman from Cobourg has been charged with multiple offences following a trespassing incident on Thursday (July 11, 2024).
The Cobourg Police Service say officers responded to a call at approximately 11:00 a.m. regarding a female trespassing at a business on King Street. Upon arrival, police identified and arrested a woman who had outstanding warrants with the service.
During the arrest, the woman allegedly spat at the responding officers and caused damage to two police vehicles. As a result, she has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, two counts of mischief under $5,000, theft from mail, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of probation. Additionally, she faces two counts of failing to attend for fingerprints.
Police say the incident highlights their ongoing enforcement efforts under the 2024 Downtown Action Plan, which includes proactive crime prevention measures and harm reduction programs.
