Asking questions and listening to responses are tasks done by reporters every single day – but every now and then, you can be caught off-guard.
Joseph Goden with GoNorthumberland.ca became a bit of a viral sensation during a scrum on Monday in Cobourg with Premier Doug Ford.
During a visit to announce $25M in water infrastructure to help build more than 2200 homes, Goden had an opportunity to ask a question and follow-up.
Ford responded with a soundbite that has been run on news outlets all over the country.
Goden says other colleagues on site approached him almost immediately, which doesn’t usually happen.
The answer quickly made its way back to Queen’s Park, where NDP Leader Marit said on social media the “heartless comments about people being forced to live on the street show just how out of touch he is with the reality facing people in Ontario, or how much harder life has become under his watch.”
