Northumberland County has signed an agreement with the Municipality of Trent Hills to provide IT Managed Services, starting October 1, 2024.
This move aligns with the County’s 2023-2027 Community Strategic Plan to expand voluntary shared services among its member municipalities.
While Trent Hills’ internal IT staff will continue managing day-to-day operations, the County will offer direct support in key areas like IT infrastructure management, network monitoring, cybersecurity, procurement, and project management.
Trent Hills joins a list of five other municipal partners already benefiting from Northumberland’s IT services, including the Townships of Cramahe, Hamilton, Alnwick/Haldimand, the Municipality of Port Hope, and the Port Hope Police Service.
The agreement will run until December 31, 2027, with a possible one-year extension. The monthly service fee for Trent Hills is set at $7,119.06, amounting to $85,428.76 annually. These fees are designed to cover “Fully Loaded Costs,” ensuring the County recovers expenses like staff salaries, travel, and other overheads.
By sharing IT services, both Northumberland County and Trent Hills aim to leverage economies of scale, reducing costs, increasing capacity, and improving IT services for residents.
