On October 26, 2024, Northumberland OPP charged a 30-year-old Uxbridge man following a high-speed stop on Highway 401 eastbound in Port Hope.
The pick-up truck, recorded at 146 km/h in a 110 km/h zone, was stopped at approximately 10:35 p.m. Officers reported that the driver attempted to evade arrest by providing false identification. A search of the vehicle yielded 15 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of $1,350, and their investigation also revealed a vehicle defect.
The driver has been charged with multiple offences, including obstructing a peace officer, personation with intent to avoid prosecution, possession of a Schedule I substance-cocaine, two counts of driving under suspension, and operating an unsafe vehicle. His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and he is due to appear in court.
