Police say a 62-year-old Roseneath man has been charged with careless driving causing death after a fatal collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills on August 8, 2024.
Northumberland OPP, along with the Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, responded to the incident around 6:45 p.m. at County Road 45 and Broadworth Road. The crash involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.
According to the OPP, the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old from Hastings, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The pickup driver was uninjured. OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Following their inquiry, the Roseneath driver was charged with careless driving causing death.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at an upcoming date.
