Northumberland County is celebrating the transformative contributions of Dan Borowec, Director of Economic Development, Planning, and Strategic Initiatives, as he retires after over 30 years of public service.
Borowec has been a key figure in rural development, leading projects such as the Eastern Ontario Development Program, expanding broadband access, and establishing the Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre in Colborne.
“Dan’s visionary leadership has left an indelible mark on Northumberland County,” said CAO Jennifer Moore. “His dedication to improving rural communities will benefit future generations. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Borowec’s retirement is effective January 3, 2025. Succeeding him as Director of Economic Development and Planning is Dwayne Campbell, who joined the County in 2014 as Manager of Land Use Planning. Campbell has a proven track record, including implementing Northumberland’s first Official Plan and serving as Acting Director in 2024.
Campbell, a University of Waterloo graduate and certified member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, brings expertise in land use, environmental conservation, and strategic planning. He previously worked on major provincial initiatives with the Region of Durham.
The County says they look forward to Campbell’s leadership in continuing Borowec’s legacy, ensuring vibrant growth for residents and businesses alike.
