Cobourg Police Service hosted its annual Shop with a Cop event on December 15, offering ten local youth a day of festive fun, shopping, and bonding with law enforcement.
The initiative, designed to build positive relationships with police and spread holiday cheer, saw children selected by police, school officials, and social service agencies. Paired with uniformed officers, special constables, and auxiliary members, the kids shopped for Christmas gifts for their families, picking out something special for themselves along the way.
Domino’s Cobourg generously provided lunch, giving participants a chance to chat and wrap their gifts with their police partners. Detective Constable Danielle McKeen emphasised the event’s importance: “Shop with a Cop not only fosters positive connections between youth and police but allows local children to embrace the spirit of giving.”
The Cobourg Police Service extended heartfelt thanks to sponsors, including Zel Beauty, Brent Maguire Home Renovations, Drapeau Automatic Sprinkler Corp., Bakers Cleaners and Hoover’s Home Energy Inc., for making the day memorable for the youth and their families.
Through community support and dedicated volunteers, Shop with a Cop continues to brighten the holiday season, building trust and spreading joy in Cobourg year after year.
