A Dresden resident has been charged after a fraud investigation that started last year in the Township of Hamilton, say Northumberland OPP.
According to police, back on April 3, 2024, police received a complaint about an individual who was paid to complete repairs at a Stoneridge Road residence.
The work was not undertaken, and officers started a fraud investigation, said police, on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025.
A person sought in connection with the incident was later identified and a warrant issued for their arrest. Northumberland OPP has now confirmed that the individual was arrested by an area municipal police service on Feb. 3 and then transferred to OPP custody.
As a result of the investigation, police said the 51-year-old Dresden resident was charged with fraud under $5,000.
This charge has not been proven in court. The accused will appear in court at a future date.
