Northumberland County has applied for approval from Transport Canada under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for the proposed Trent River Crossing in Campbellford.
The project aims to construct a new bridge over the Trent River, connecting Alma Street on the west side to Second Street on the east.
As part of the approval process, Transport Canada is inviting public comments on how the bridge may impact marine navigation. Residents and stakeholders can review project details and submit feedback online through the Common Project Search Registry under file number 2024-413156.
For those without internet access, written comments can be mailed to: Transport Canada’s Navigation Protection Program at 100 S Front St, 1st Floor, Sarnia, ON, N7T 2M4.
All comments must be submitted by March 8, 2025 at 3:00 a.m. While responses will be considered, Transport Canada will not provide individual replies.
The Trent River Crossing is expected to improve local transportation and connectivity, but public input is an essential part of the process. To learn more or submit feedback, visit Transport Canada’s project registry.
