Free Family Fishing
Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. The Ontario Government has designated four periods throughout the year as license-free Family Fishing, Family Day Weekend fishing will run from February 15-17, 2025. The West Northumberland Curling Club (WNCC) hosts a Family Day event at the Jack Heenan Arena with two sessions for all ages of the community to try curling. The sessions will run 2-3 p.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Those wishing to come and try curling are asked to register in advance by emailing the club at operations@wncc.ca. Please provide the number of members within your group and register before Saturday February 15, 2025.
Cobourg Cougars

Cheer on our home OJHL hockey team, the Cobourg Cougars, as they face the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Kids 12 years and under get in free when wearing a jersey and accompanied by an adult. Tickets are available online at www.cobourgcougars.com and at the gate.
Port Hope
A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings will be closed and transit service unavailable on Monday, February 17, 2025, for the Family Day holiday. Municipal recreation facilities will remain open for the day.
The Port Hope Public Library branches and the Hope Transfer Station will also be closed on February 17.
All the above municipal services will resume at their usual business hours on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Presqu’ile Provincial Park and Proctor Park offer scenic walking trails, while Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area is perfect for a winter hike or snowshoeing. And the National Air Force Museum of Canada is hosting “Expedition: ARCTIC – Family Day at the NAFMC” This Family Day is sure to be a cold one! Once again, the National Air Force Museum of Canada is recruiting for another adventure, but this time they’re heading north – waaaaay up north to Canada’s Arctic. Recruits will embark on EXPEDITION: ARCTIC, a unique discovery program that explores the vast expanse of the Canadian Arctic. Suitable for all ages, programming will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For Family Day only, Museum admission rates are by donation on entry. All activities are scheduled to take place inside the museum; access to the airpark is weather dependent. No food or drink (water permitted) is allowed inside the museum.
