The Canadian travel industry is one of many starting to see the effects of a Donald Trump Presidency, including the threat of tariffs.
According to the US Travel Association, with over 20 million visits last year, Canadians make up the majority of international visits to the US.
Vice-President of Blowes Travel, Rob Blowes says travel agents are hearing stories from concerned Canadians who are rethinking their trips down south.
Blowes says tariffs would result in an even lower Canadian dollar, so travel state-side could be affected for a while.
This latest blast of wintery weather will likely have many people considering a vacation to the sunny south.
Blowes says it’s been a busy season for travel.
But one destination Canadians are reconsidering is the United States.
Blowes says they’re starting to hear from people who have decided to change their travel plans if they were originally headed to the States.
He says the low Canadian dollar continues to be an issue as well.
Blowes say that he also has concerns about the travel industry as a whole, if tariffs are implemented.
