A man was rescued by police after his snowmobile became stuck in deep snow and ice on Rice Lake on the evening of Feb. 17.
Ontario Provincial Police, along with the fire department and EMS, responded to the distress call shortly after 7 p.m. The caller reported being unable to move and experiencing shortness of breath.
Due to deep snow, OPP officers continued on foot to reach the man, who was found near a dock.
He was safely brought back to shore and reunited with his family.
Police are reminding snowmobilers to check ice conditions, stick to marked trails, and always carry emergency gear.
