A 30-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges after police responded to a domestic dispute on Sunday night.
Cobourg police say they were called to a downtown apartment around 10 p.m. on March 9 after a passing citizen reported hearing what sounded like a verbal dispute between a man and a woman.
When officers arrived, they found the man inside the residence. Police say the woman had left before their arrival.
Further investigation revealed that the man was subject to a release order prohibiting him from possessing weapons or a cell phone. Officers reported seeing multiple prohibited knives in plain view inside the residence and discovered the man was also carrying a cell phone.
As a result, the man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
The accused was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
