With tariffs in place and others looming, cross-border shoppers are asking questions like what can I bring back from the states? And how much?

Canadian Border Services says declaring items is the No. 1 priority when crossing the border. Kennedy says that allows them to their jobs to the best of your benefit.
There are a few exemptions in certain cases where you would have to pay extra taxes, too.
He adds tariffs come into play in certain situations.
If you go for a state-side day trip, your exemption is $200 per person. That goes up to $800 for a stay of 48 hours or more.
