All Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPR) and Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington (PVNC) Catholic District School Board schools in Peterborough, Peterborough County, and the City of Kawartha Lakes will remain closed Tuesday, April 1, as power restoration efforts continue.
KPR schools and child care centres in Northumberland County and Quinte West will also remain closed for the day, while all Clarington schools and child care facilities will be open as scheduled. The board says the closures will apply even if power is restored overnight.
The PVNC Catholic board has also confirmed that all its schools in Peterborough, Peterborough County, and the City of Kawartha Lakes will be closed Tuesday due to continued power outages, hazardous debris, and unsafe road conditions.
In Clarington, all PVNC schools will be open, and transportation will operate as usual.
In Northumberland, all PVNC schools will be open except for St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Campbellford, which remains closed due to a power outage. Transportation to Northumberland schools will be cancelled, and parents must arrange their own transportation.
Both school boards acknowledge the challenges closures pose for families and stress that student and staff safety remains the top priority.
Further updates for Wednesday, April 2, will be provided as the situation develops.
Families are encouraged to check www.STSCO.ca for transportation updates.
