The 2025 Business Achievement Awards, hosted by the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cobourg, celebrated the contributions of local businesses in a night of recognition and achievement.
Baxter’s Bakery received the prestigious Mayor’s Award, presented by Mayor Lucas Cleveland. The company demonstrated remarkable business resilience, expanding its operations at Northam Industrial Park with a $3.5 million investment and the creation of 54 new jobs.
“This company’s story is one of resilience, determination, and a deep commitment to growth,” said Cleveland. “Their ability to adapt and thrive is a shining example of what we value in Cobourg.”
Dominique Sayers, owner of B&D Liquidation and B&D Bins, was honoured with the William Crossen Young Professional Award. She took over the family-run business from her father Blake, and has continued to expand its selection of household goods and electronics, making it a go-to shopping destination.
The Business & Consumer Services Award saw a tie between two local businesses: the Ryan Huffman Real Estate Team and Kendra’s K9 Cuts.

Huffman’s team was recognized for its luxury real estate certification and commitment to community initiatives, while Kendra’s K9 Cuts earned praise for its stress-free dog grooming services.
Vandermeer Toyota won the Retail Sector Award, adding to its reputation as a top-rated dealer.

The Communications and Digital Media Technology Award went to 93.3 myFM and Classic Rock 107.9, which expanded digital advertising options for local businesses and hosted the successful Northumberland Home, Garden and Leisure Show.

Other winners included Whispering Springs Wilderness Retreat for Hospitality & Tourism, Five Counties Children’s Centre for Not-for-Profit, and Burnham Family Farm Market for Manufacturing and Agribusiness.
