A 31-year-old Port Hope woman has been charged after a package was reported stolen from the front step of a home Monday afternoon.
Cobourg police say they responded to a Division Street and University Avenue East residence at about 2:24 p.m. after a report of a stolen package.
Officers reportedly reviewed security camera footage and began searching the area for a suspect.
A short time later, police said they located the suspect near Division Street and Buchanan Street.
Following the investigation, the woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to comply with probation, reported police.
The stolen package was recovered undamaged and returned to its rightful owner, added police.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on May 14, 2025.
